RRR Filing PIL in Telangana High Court
RRR, an upcoming Indian film directed by SS Rajamouli, has generated a lot of buzz among fans. However, the film has faced a lot of controversy.
A public interest litigation (PIL) was filed against the movie in Telangana High Court. The PIL alleged that the film misrepresents historical facts. It also claims that the film distorts the lives of two freedom fighters, Sitaram Raju and Komaram Bheem. Here we will discuss about rajkotupdates.news : rrr filed pil in telangana high court before release.
Alluri Soumya filed PIL
RRR is a film that has generated considerable buzz and anticipation among fans, but it is facing a potential legal issue. A student from Andhra Pradesh has filed a PIL (public interest litigation) in the Telangana high court, claiming that the film distorts historical facts and should not be released.
The movie is based on the lives of two fictional Telugu freedom fighters. It stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR as Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem.
Despite the fact that this film is based on real-life characters, it is important to note that filmmakers should take care not to misrepresent history or have a negative impact on society. When a PIL is brought forward, the court will review the evidence presented and make a decision based on that information.
It is common for films to face a PIL prior to their release, especially those that are based on historical events or have sensitive subject matter. While it is not uncommon for these types of challenges to arise, the impact that this one will have on RRR’s release remains to be seen.
Alluri Soumya, a student from Andhra Pradesh, has filed this PIL. She claims that the film distorts historical facts about Alluri Seetharama Raju and Kambaram Bheem and should not be released. She also demands that the movie be banned and not given a censor certificate.
Soumya argues that the film “destroyed the image and legacy” of Alluri Seetharama Raju and Kummaram Bheem, who were both highly revered heroes in India. She also argued that the portrayal of Martyr Alluri Seetharama Raju as a police officer was at odds with her lifestyle, and that this had damaged her reputation.
The court ruled against the petition, noting that the film does not tarnish the reputation of Alluri Seetharama Raju or Komaram Bheem and that it is a work of fiction. The court also observed that cinematic liberties are permitted in a work of fiction.
The case was heard by a bench of Justice Ujjwal Bayan and Justice Venkateswara Reddy. The judge referred the case to the Chief Justice’s bench for further proceedings.
Censor Certificate [rajkotupdates.news : rrr filed pil in telangana high court before release]
The telangana high court has issued the Censor Certificate for the film RRR before its release. The film is directed by SS Rajamouli and stars Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt.
The Film Censors Board of India, which is a part of the Central Government, regulates films under the Cinematograph Act. As per this act, films must not be certified if they violate the sovereignty and integrity of India, security of the State, friendly relations with foreign States, public order or decency or involve defamation or contempt of court or are likely to incite commission of any offence.
There are different categories of the certificate, including ‘U’ for unrestricted public exhibition and ‘A’ for restricted exhibition to adult audience. The Censors board also has the authority to grant ‘S’ for restricted exhibition to specialized audiences such as doctors and scientists.
‘RRR’ is set in the 1920s and centers on Ram (Ram Charan) and Bheem (Jr NTR). They are Gond tribals who fought against the Nizam of Hyderabad for the liberation of the state.
In the film, Ram and Bheem reunite with Malli (Alia Bhatt) and her family after 15 years. Then Ram instructs Bheem to return the weapons he gave them in their past life.
According to reports, the telangana BJP has taken exception to this and has threatened to take action if the film is released. It has even filed a PIL in the high court against the release of the movie.
The Telangana BJP also accused SS Rajamouli of portraying Komaram Bheem, a Gond tribal leader who fought against the Nizam of Hyderabad, as a Muslim. They claim that it is a violation of the Telangana Tribal Heritage and Cultural Act, which prohibits depiction of tribals in filmy roles.
After a lot of debate and controversy, the telangana high court has finally agreed to hear this case. The telangana high court has asked the film director to submit his reply by December 31, 2020.
The telangana high court has said that it would be in its best interest to postpone the release of the film, pending the resolution of the matter. This has come as a great blow for SS Rajamouli and his team. The director had spent a lot of money to promote the film and now it is cancelled.
Stay Order
rrr is a film directed by ss rajamouli that is set to hit the big screen on January 7th. However, due to the emergence of Covid-19 cases, it was postponed indefinitely.
A Public Interest Litigation was filed by a student from West Godavari district who challenged the movie on the grounds that it distorts the history of freedom fighters Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem. The petitioner demanded the court to issue a stay order on the release of the film and also rescind the censor certificate issued by the Censor Board.
The case was heard by a bench of justices Ujjal Bhuyan and Venkateswara Reddy. The judges ruled that since it was a PIL, they would hear it.
This is not the first time a telangana high court has issued a stay order before release of a film, but it is the first one to be done in relation to a controversial topic. The telangana high court has issued notices to the chief secretary, principal secretaries and district collectors in Telangana.
These orders can be based on various factors like preservation of status quo, balance of convenience, prima facie case, irreparable injury etc. They can be granted for a period of seven to 21 days.
If you are planning to get a stay order on your property, you will need to approach the court with the right documents. These can include an FIR copy, a copy of the charge sheet and any other papers that are relevant to your case.
The court will decide on the validity of a stay order based on these criteria. Whether it should be granted or not will depend on how quickly the prima facie evidence persuades the judge and how compelling the case is presented.
A stay order is a vital tool that can help to avoid any unnecessary complications in the judicial proceedings. In addition, it can also be a way to delay the proceedings, or even prevent you from being arrested altogether, if the court finds that there is no sufficient evidence to detain you. If you are facing any kind of legal proceedings and wish to get a stay order on your arrest, you should contact the best lawyer for your case.
Hearing
A student named Alluri Soumya filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against the film citing historical facts. She asked for a ban on the film.
The court has issued a hearing order on the PIL. It is expected to be heard by the Chief Justice’s bench.
SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ is a blockbuster movie that has received international praise. It is also considered as one of the ten best films of the year by the National Board of Review. The film stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR as freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, respectively.
According to the PIL, the film distorts and misrepresents the history of these freedom fighters and therefore should not be released. The PIL further prayed for the court to direct the respondent authorities not to issue a censor certificate to the film.
As per the PIL, Alluri Soumya alleged that in the movie, Alluri Sitarama Raju was shown as a British police officer which is not correct. She asked the high court not to issue a censor certificate and restrain the makers from releasing the film.
After the hearing, a two-judge panel comprising Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili dismissed the PIL. The judges observed that nothing can harm the image of great personalities like Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem as they are considered as icons in Indian culture.
In the same vein, they further noted that the apprehensions of the petitioner were not challenged before the Central Government and he had the remedy to appeal against the censor certificate.
The Telangana government has responded to the high court’s orders by saying that it is “impossible” to implement them as coronavirus tests are not available in many parts of the state and it is not possible to depute medical staff for conducting the test on the dead bodies.
As a part of the efforts to utilize ICT tools, the High Court has taken up an initiative to develop a software which will be used by the Advocates in obtaining Certified Documents instantaneously or at the earliest. The software will be hosted on the official website of the High Court and will aid the advocates in advancing arguments based on the electronic record. This will also help in saving the time of the Advocates as they do not need to bring huge Case files to the Court hall.
